Gabi Hernandez – kind of Shin – thought that once Stefan O. DiMera knew that he’s been brainwashed out of loving her on Days Of Our Lives, that he’d been brainwashed into full-out being repulsed by her, as a matter of fact, he’d come running back into her arms.
Sure, she dropped the bombshell on him right after Stefan had just slept with Chloe Lane, but Gabi still believed in the power of love. To be honest, we did, too. We thought this story was more or less over – save for the inevitable revenge Gabi and Stefan would get on all the people who’d kept them apart. But, instead, we got an intriguing plot twist.
When Gabi (Camila Banus) found Stefan (Brandon Barash) at her door, she thought he was there to reconcile. But Stefan burst Gabi’s bubble, he did his best to let her down gently. He admitted he believed her tale of what Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) had done. He apologized for hurting her, and he said he understood why she was still in love with him. The problem was, he was no longer in love with her.
Gabi insisted that was only because he’d been brainwashed into it. Stefan agreed that might be the case. But, nonetheless, he couldn’t force himself to feel something he didn’t. His feelings for Gabi weren’t even a memory – they were theoretical. He could understand it in his head, but he didn’t feel it in his heart. And, without that, there was no chance for him and Gabi.
This was a beat we didn’t see coming, especially not presented in such a sensitive manner. It only made us more excited to see what might be next for Gabi and Stefan. Which made us root for them even more!
