Soap opera triangles can be enticing to watch when there are genuine sparks and a credible plot between two potential pairings. It creates a viable rooting factor for each side. But when none of that exits and the situation feels painfully forced, it’s hard to watch. Unfortunately, that’s the case with The Bold and the Beautiful’s Steffy, Finn, and Paris Buckingham triangle, and why it needs to end now.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Flawed Set-Up

Having Paris (Diamond White) move into Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) home, made no sense from the get-go. First of all, the couple barely knows her, and they’re newlyweds with a baby. There’s no feasible way they’d want a third party in the mix, while they’re getting used to married life together. It’s a time they’d want to cherish and have all to themselves.

The fact that Steffy has a guest house and could have offered to put Paris up there would have been a more feasible alternative. However, that wouldn’t have easily allowed the plot the soap was determined to push: Paris suddenly finding herself wildly attracted to Finn.

Brewing Fantasies

Paris’s fantasies about Finn came out of nowhere. One day, she was the perfect houseguest, singing lullabies to Steffy and Finn’s baby son Hayes. The next, she was ogling Steffy’s husband like he was Magic Mike. Of course, having everyone parade around Steffy’s beach house half-naked hasn’t helped. It all plays out so forced and silly. The fact that there’s zero chemistry between Paris and Finn has made the whole thing fall flat.

And what happened to Paris’s blossoming romance with Zende (Delon de Metz)? Wasn’t it only weeks ago that she had a huge crush on him? After the way she chastised her sister Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) for straying from Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), she now seems like a hypocrite.

B&B: Plenty of Trouble

While viewers likely expected trouble was on the horizon for Steffy and Finn – after all, the pair have pretty much been blissfully happy since they first met – Paris was the wrong option. Having Kimberlin Brown surface as Finn’s birth mother, Sheila, will provide all the turmoil the pair will be able to handle for the next several months.

It’s a brilliant twist because it finally gives Steffy’s perfect man a fatal flaw — his mother’s a raging psychopath. Having Sheila in the picture creates more strife for Steffy and Finn than Paris ever could, and it’s bound to intensify as Finn continues to find himself torn between his allegiance to his wife and his newly discovered mother. Paris never needed to be in the mix at all, because things are already muddled to the max.
