Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Don Diamont

Fans of Bill Spencer and Katie Logan have been waiting for the estranged duo to get some air time so they can hurry up and reunite on The Bold and the Beautiful. Recently, the duo hashed out their issues, earning Don Diamont (Bill) top honors this week for Soap Hub’s Performer of the Week for B&B.

Don Diamont – Performer of the Week

“I had to see you, Katie (Heather Tom),” Bill (Don Diamont) began. “It’s been way too long.” Viewers knew Bill meant business when he spoke this line, setting up the dramatic scenes that followed. He was definitely going to have his say. Nobody knew it was going to make a difference or not. Bill informed a reticent Katie that he not only wanted her back but that he needed her in his life.

As B&B viewers know, Bill and Katie have broken up and gotten back together many times over the years but last year, Katie learned that Bill had once again been intimate with her own sister Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). While this last time was “just” a kiss, Katie can’t get over that time after time Bill is romantically drawn to her big sister despite professing that Katie is the only woman for him.

Katie has other reasons to be apprehensive. Bill lied about Liam Spencer’s (Scott Clifton) role in Vinny’s (Joe LoCicero) death. Nobody knew at the time that poor Vinny actually killed himself and Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) video would later exonerate Liam. The fact remains that Bill was willing to break the law to protect his family. Ironically, that has cost him much and he’s hurting, as a result.

“There is a hole in my heart where you and Will used to be. I miss my wife. I miss my son,” an extremely vulnerable Bill shared with Katie, who shared her concern that Bill simply goes too far sometimes. Bill and Liam aren’t printing license plates thanks to Thomas but if he hadn’t come forth Will would have lost his dad.

Katie appreciates Bill wanting to protect his family but she feels he takes it to a reckless extreme. “This all feels very familiar,” Katie softly shared, pointing out that Don Diamont’s Bill acts impulsively and then, he comes to her after it all goes to pieces.

No one plays ball alone in daytime television so, kudos also must go to six-time Daytime Emmy-winner Heather Tom, who opened up a few veins of her own in these scenes. Katie brought up Bill’s connection to Brooke not to hurt him but to let him know how much she’s still affected by this and how it’s impacted her decision not to return to him.

Bill got teary when Katie suggested to him that she deserves better in life. “I have this knack for tearing down what is most dear to me,” Bill said, his voice cracking. Bill conceded that he hasn’t always been the man she deserved but insisted that he’d learned his lesson.

“If you open the door just a crack, I’ll do the rest. What I won’t do, what I refuse to do is live a life without you by my side…” Bill (Don Diamont) said. “If you give me one more chance, Katie…I swear I won’t let you down.”

Viewers are going to have to tune in to see if Bill’s words reached Katie. But they’ve certainly touched both Soap Hub editors and B&B viewers courtesy of Don Diamont’s vulnerable performance.
