When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review
Boy, when the dialoguers at The Bold and the Beautiful want to make a point, they REALLY hammer it home don’t they?
Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) was super-duper sad that Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) had insisted on annulling their marriage and pledging his troth to Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), and you know how I know this? Because nearly every single scene featuring Brooke from Monday’s airshow to Wednesday’s drove that fact home — HARD.
Brooke’s upset overshadowed Patrick Duffy’s two-day return stint and Linda Purl’s blink and you’d miss it cameo — coincidentally, did anyone catch Lucy’s last name? No? Oh, that’s right, there wasn’t time for her to give it because the conversation had to be all about poor pitiful Brooke who was so, so brave for attempting — however weakly — to smile though her heart was breaking.
As for Katie’s news that she and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) might one day, maybe real soon be a bona fide couple, that basked in the spotlight long enough for Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) to imply something dirty and for Brooke to offer her congratulations — she was so happy for Katie…even though she was also very, very sad. Ridge left her, don’t her sisters know?
Over at the Forrester manse, post CPSgate, Taylor spent I’m not even sure how many episodes (Two? Three?) swearing blindly to Ridge that she totally intended to tell him about Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) subterfuge. She would do this after they were married because Taylor was so convinced that Ridge wanted to be with her and only her and it was because he loved her and not because Brooke did something to piss him off and spur him into doing something like propose to her, get an annulment from Brooke one day and marry her the next.
Ridge, for his part, couldn’t quite bring himself to answer whether or not he still intended to go through with his wedding because he was FURIOUS with Thomas and had to spend much time and effort letting his son know just how disappointed his was and how bad a man Thomas is.
Elsewhere, we were reminded — and not for the tenth or even fifteenth time — that a) Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) has a screw or two loose, b) her being at Deacon Sharpe’s (Sean Kana) apartment is a very bad idea, and c) she thinks that Deacon is all kinds of pathetic for wanting to reunite with Brooke.

But wait, The Bold and the Beautiful scripters aren’t quite done yet. Did you know that Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) is a good boy? A very good boy? A very good, decent, honorable boy? A very good, decent, honorable boy who knows right from wrong? Well, after Friday’s episode I sure hope that you do.
Oh, and just in case you hadn’t heard, Thomas and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) don’t exactly see eye-to-eye on who’s to blame for Taylor’s predicament. Thomas is pretty sure that it’s Steffy, and Steffy is pretty sure that it’s Thomas. Taylor is pretty sure that she’d just like her squabbling kids to pack it in and leave her in peace. If only Tay-Tay. If only.
Further B&B Musings
* Am I the only one who wants to see Sheila gussied up in her mask and plethora of new wigs? I hope that wasn’t a tease that will never be satiated.
* Having spent the “Highlights” section razzing B&B for beating a point to death, I now do likewise (don’t ever say that I can’t recognize my own hypocrisy): I’m so glad that, in spite of the script glossing over the implications, when Katie offhandedly mentioned that Carter had just let himself into Brooke’s abode, Katherine Kelly Lang had the good sense to let her face register an expression that said, “The [expletive]?! He just walked in without my knowledge and expressed permission?!”
* I’m still trying to gage whether Deacon is very brave, or very dumb to antagonize Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) when he’s so obviously not in the mood to verbally spar.
Also, what was the point of teeing up a confrontation between the two men when the next show didn’t even pick up the thread?
