Li, Bill, and Katie
When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
This week, more than any other in recent memory, exemplified what makes The Bold and the Beautiful the Bold and the Beautiful — or what has passed for The Bold and the Beautiful for a decade or more: dialogue and action recycled amongst a handful of characters ad nauseam followed by the dropping of an out-of-nowhere plot device that promises to upend everything you thought you knew to be true.
Between Monday and Friday, absolutely nothing of significance transpired. No storyline was moved in any discernable direction. No answers were provided. And if you had an interest in anything or anyone outside of Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) and Sheila Carter’s (Kimberlin Brown) orbit then you were very much out of luck. Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) who? Eric Forrester (John McCook) and Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis)? Who are they? Ditto Zende (Delon de Metz) and Paris (Diamond White). Heck, Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) was only blessed with screentime so that, respectively, Katie (Heather Tom) could have someone to vent her frustrations over Bill’s out-of-character behavior to, and Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) would have a talk-to to do much the same.
It was all Bill and Sheila all week. Well, to be clear, it was all [insert character] charges into Bill’s abode with the expressed purpose of talking some sense into him, Sheila eavesdrops on the blackening of her character before emerging to give the excoriated a fright and a piece of her mind, [insert character] begs Bill to kick Sheila out, Bill instead orders [insert character] to leave him and Sheila be.
Thank G-d for the hilarious double act of Scott Clifton [Liam Spencer] and Darin Brooks [Wyatt Spencer], because they at least injected some much-needed humor into the repetitive melee.
But then came Liam and Hope’s (Annika Noelle) end-of-week discussion that left me wondering if maybe The Bold and the Beautiful was gearing up to reveal that it was indeed Liam, and NOT Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) who made a valiant attempt to rid the world of Bill all those many years ago.
I mean, B&B doesn’t ever bring something like this up without an expressed purpose — they’re not that clever — and on this soap opera, anything’s possible and nothing is probable.
