It seems like it’s been ages since The Young and the Restless scripted a storyline-complicating pregnancy but now that the soap has a ready-made quadrangle full of young, beautiful, and randy people, surely it’s time to remedy that situation.

The Young and the Restless Poll Results

Summer (Hunter King) loved Kyle (Michael Mealor) but Kyle fell in love with Lola (Sasha Calle). So, like in any good love story, Summer coerced Kyle into marriage and then finally divorced him so he could run back to the food truck operator turned master chef he truly adored and put a ring on her finger.

Summer’s compensation for her dual good deed — don’t forget she also gave her ex’s lover a kidney — came in the form of a hunky though morally dubious boy toy named Theo (Tyler Jonson). And even though they have spent MANY a day and night making wild passionate love, Summer still holds a torch for her ex and Theo seems to be sniffing around the new Mrs. Kyle Abbott.

With such delicious roundabout affections, an unplanned pregnancy is merely this quad’s next logical step, right? But which one of the female players will be the one to bear the child?

Soap Hub decided to put the question to the test and asked you to guess which character — Summer of Lola — would be the first to announce that she is with child. Over 7,000 viewers voted and here is who you expect to be expecting first.

First Comes Love

There’s an old saying that goes, “First comes loves, then comes marriage, then comes a baby carriage.” So, if The Young and the Restless follows the pattern, Lola will be the next expectant mother and that’s a theory 62% of you can get behind.

The ink is barely dry on the newlywed’s marriage license but they’ve already had one pregnancy scare. Lola bore all the classic symptoms: lightheadedness, nausea, fatigue, and an aversion to certain foods.

But rather than a bun in the oven, it was apparently a 24-hour bug because the drug store test was negative. Lola was up and kicking the next morning fine and dandy. And even though the couple vowed to be extra diligent going forward, there’s another old saying about best-laid plans.

Summertime

Meanwhile, there’s 38% of you who are sure that Summer will win the race to motherhood. After all, she and Theo have been hooking up often and frequently in places where access to contraception is negligible — like inside the Athletic Club elevator.

Either way, pregnancy is certainly going to complicate an already complicated situation and complications — at least on a soap — are always fun. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
