Kyle (Michael Mealor) loved Lola (Sasha Calle) so much, that he married Summer (Hunter King) so she would give a comatose Lola a piece of her liver. (Yes, liver fragments cure comas, you don’t need to go to medical school to know that!)
But Kyle decided that marriage to a hot, willing, rich blonde was hell on earth, and so he divorced Summer to wed equally hot, virginal, poor but proud brunette Lola. Because he loves her.

Summer Nights
Kyle may be able to lie to Lola — and to himself, but he can’t lie to the viewers, 60% of whom believe that yes, Kyle does still love Summer. It’s not just a case of them gelling professionally.
Remember how angry he was about her dating Theo? (OK, so Kyle flies off the handle about every single Theo related thing, but still.) Summer was his first love, and you don’t get over that easily (except that brief period when she was thought to be his sister, but we don’t speak of it much). Lola is just a poor substitute.
Living La Vida Lola
Nope, 40% of the audience disagrees, Lola is the love of Kyle’s life. If he’d wanted Summer, he could have stayed married to Summer. She had first dibs. Kyle made his choice and that was Lola.
The fact is, it’s hard to develop warm, fuzzy feelings for the woman who blackmailed you into marriage using the life of the woman you really love as leverage. (No, really, forget what the soaps might teach you about that.)
