Say What, General Hospital? THIS Is What Happens To Kristina And Parker?

Okay, we have to say, we didn’t see THAT one coming. General Hospital (GH) brought Parker to town to usher Kristina out of town, and–why?

Well, we frankly have no idea and just sat there blinking today after Parker (Ashley Jones) was fired, decided to move to Oregon, Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) announced she was going with her, and Parker said, sure. We’re not even sure who was blinking more–us or Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

From the start, Parker and Kristina never really made sense as we didn’t see their relationship develop and Parker looks like she could be Kristina’s mother. And, both were on so sporadically with Parker hardly ever in Port Charles, that we barely ever saw them together even after they suddenly fell for one another.

But, GH was still onto something by taking an established character we watched grow up on screen and have her come to terms with her sexual identity. Whether she discovered who she really is with an older woman or not, it was a good story–and now, it’s been dropped like a hot potato for no reason.

Clearly, showing a friendship develop between Kristina and Valerie was nothing but a ploy to write Kristina off. And unlike with Parker, we actually saw chemistry between Kristina and Valerie.

GH could have gone somewhere with that story, but nope, on National Coming Out Day of all days, the show writes Kristina and Parker off. Their departure is even confirmed in the October 23 issue of Soap Opera Digest, so yes, you really did just see that.

And, speaking of Valerie (Brytni Sarpy), is she now just around to give updates on same sex couples and push their story along to the point where we don’t see them?

There was no reason Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas (Ryan Carnes) couldn’t have been at Bobbie’s (Jacklyn Zeman) party. Instead, we had to hear from Valerie they’re considering adoption rather than letting the story play out on our screens.

It’s nice to see when a show tries something daring (that in the 21st century, shouldn’t even be considered daring, but that’s still where we are) and a shame to see when it drops the ball for no conceivable reason.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
