Grey’s Anatomy has been on-air for 15 seasons, which means the show has gone through its fair share of characters. While some of the doctors are fan favorites, like Alex Karev and Meredith Grey, there are other doctors that have been very controversial.
Here are the top five doctors we’re glad left Grey’s Anatomy when they did. See if our list matches up with your own personal top five!
5. Reed Adamson (Nora Zehetner)
Yes, Reed’s death was absolutely horrific, but nobody really mourned her death if we’re being honest. When she came over from Mercy West with April Kepner, Jackson Avery, and Charles Percy, Reed wasn’t nice to anybody. She was stuck up and truly thought she was better than everyone else. While she didn’t deserve to die, it’s good she’s gone.
4. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl)
Izzie started out as a likable doctor whose heart sometimes got in the way of her making the right decisions, but she ended up being the worst. She left her husband, Alex Karev, just months after they tied the knot. Alex put everything on hold to take care of Izzie during her cancer battle, but she just left him in the dust.

3. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith)
The one good thing Erica did while on Grey’s Anatomy was help Callie Torres figure out her sexuality. Otherwise, she was annoying. She seemed to not like anyone in the hospital and constantly talked down to Cristina Yang, despite the fact Cristina was always right. Erica wasn’t a team player and it showed.
2. Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominczyk)
There are very few fans out there who liked Eliza. She came in as a love interest for Arizona, but the chemistry just wasn’t there. Not to mention, she totally undermined Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber, which is not OK in our book. She wasn’t able to connect with any of the doctors outside of Arizona, so she needed to leave.
1. Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington)
Burke was a good love interest for Cristina, but he was too intense for the show. He loved Cristina, but he clearly loved his job more. While we could forgive his flaws because of Cristina, he was immediately written off after he left Cristina on their wedding day. Not OK!
