The third episode of Season 8, the final season of Game of Thrones, was enough to take your breath away. From the murky night that promised the dead would add to their army, all the way to the glorious end when we lost heroes and new heroes were made, the action had us on the edge of our seats.

There’s so much that happened, it may take a while to unpack it all and process but in the meantime, here are the Top 10 moments that blew us away (spoilers for the third episode ahead).

10. Theon’s Redemption
From the first moment you saw him in this episode, you knew Theon had to die. It’s part of his hero’s journey and boy did he go in style. Sure, there was no chance he’d kill the Night King, but he sure tried and we applaud him. You are a good man. Thank you, indeed.

9. Seeing Red
She returned! The Red Woman still had work to do and she sure was useful, even Davos was in awe. Her Lord of Light chanting lit all of the Dothraki weapons, the trench when Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) couldn’t see to have her dragon do it, and Melisandre even had a moment to tell Arya her next kill would have blue eyes. He sure did.

8. Exes and Ohhhs
Arya (Maisie Williams) saw the dead attack and told Sansa (Sophie Turner) to go to the crypt. When Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) saw her face upon her arrival, he immediately understood what was happening above — and took a drink. The two exes spoke frankly as they awaited death (which thankfully never came for them) and it was everything.

7. Building A Bridge
It seemed like our faves were safe behind the fire trench at Winterfell, but once the Night King gave the order, they found a way to fall in quick succession on the fire and made a safe path to the other side. It was a game-changing moment and seemed like perhaps all hope was lost.

What do you think? Post a comment!

6. Through The Fire
Fire was, of course, going to spook the Hound. While we knew it would take Arya being in danger for him to overcome it, that didn’t dilute the moment when it finally came. Beric encouraged his friend to help her and he did, even as Beric gave his life to save Arya. It’s why he kept coming back.

5. The Night The Lights Went Out In The North
As stated earlier, Melisandre lit the weapons of the Dothraki warriors and it was quite the spectacle as they headed out to be the first line of defense against the dead. So when all of their lights went out — it was a moment where you sucked in your breath and feared death would find everyone.

4. Dragon’s Breath
The moment came where Dany/Drogon faced the Night King and while we knew fire couldn’t kill the Night King, Dany didn’t know it — and the look on her face when he emerged from the fire unscathed was completely harrowing.

3. Jorah Saves His Queen
It looked like Dany’s goose might actually be cooked as the dead started to swarm her but who should come to her rescue? None other than the man who always swore he’d give his life for her. Sadly, he did just that but we’re sure it was his honor to do so. The dragon hugging Dany as she grieved was a nice touch.

2. Giant Killer
There are few bigger badasses in Westeros than pint-sized Lyanna Mormont. She showed her incredible courage in the face of death when she held on long enough through his crushing might to take out the giant by stabbing him in the eye. It was a heroic death, though it spelled the end of House Mormont.

1. There’s A New King Slayer In Town
Bran was super cool when facing the Night King after his one surviving protector, Theon, was killed. We held our breath as we waited to see what he had up his sleeve when all of a sudden, Arya appeared out of nowhere and stabbed the Night King. It was a glorious moment that saved the world.
