You can’t dispute that Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has a legion of fans who adore everything about this incredible woman and actress, but they may be surprised to learn that her mother was just as legendary when she was alive. Now the actress shares an amazing photo of the two and you just have to see it!
“#fbf to getting ready for summer me and mama in a #Itsy-bitsyTeeny-weenyYellowPolkaBikini,” wrote Hargitay on the cutest image of herself being held by her oh-so-glamourous mother, Jayne Mansfield. For those too young to know, Mansfield was a star in the film, theater, and television but also a nightclub entertainer, singer, and even an early Playboy Playmate.

If you’ve never seen her in action, you would be smart to catch her one of her cutest movies from 1956, The Girl Can’t Help It with Tom Ewell, who was also a big star at the time. This, of course, was just one of the many films that cemented her as a bonafide icon.
In the picture below that was shared by her daughter, you can see the sex symbol in her prime. Sadly, she was killed in a car crash at the age of 34, when Hargitay was only 3-and-a-half years old.
