Demi Burnett is explaining herself after some of her controversial statements rubbed Bachelor fans the wrong way this season. In fact, the 23-year-old is apologizing after she seemingly shaded Colton Underwood’s ex-girlfriend, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, as well as Becca Kufrin and Tia Booth.

It all started when Burnett said Underwood needed to date a woman with confidence, leading fans to believe she was insulting the 27-year-old’s past girlfriends.

“I think Colton will realize he needs a girl in his life that is more bold and confident and will take a bit more of a dominant role,” she said during the episode.

“I think that Colton is looking for a girl that can take charge and take control. Even if he, like, doesn’t know what he’s looking for, I think that’s what he needs.”

However, despite the shade, Burnett promises she didn’t mean to insult Raisman.

“So I said that Colton’s exes were not dominant or aggressive, maybe, and I think that’s not a negative thing, to not be either of those things,” she told Us Weekly.

“And I also had no idea that he dated Aly. I didn’t know anything about that, so I definitely wasn’t referring to that at all. I was referring to The Bachelor history that I saw and it’s not a negative thing to be not dominant.”

She continued, “That’s just somebody who doesn’t take control all the time and that’s OK to not be that. It was not an insult at all.”

The bottom line — Burnett was only referencing herself when she made those comments on TV.

“I don’t even want to say [I was talking about Tia] either because I don’t know her personally. I know what I’ve seen on TV. So she could be dominant and aggressive, I don’t know,” she explained.
