Most Memorable Year night on Dancing With the Stars was made most memorable after singer and actor Jordan Fisher and ballroom pro Lindsay Arnold hit the DWTS floorboards.

Their contemporary number, choreographed to perfection by Arnold, included a freedom of movement that overpowered the technique in an amazingly positive way.

In other words, the ballroom pro’s creation reached for the more inexperienced dancer’s current limits but did not go beyond them. These thoughtful decisions by Arnold made this graceful duet a solid hit.

Intuitively, each step was made to flow into the next, allowing the observer to relax into watching this evocative routine.

Meanwhile, the dancers were able to express extreme emotion, both in movement and facial expressions. The latter included earnest tears at the end from Fisher who truly embraced the emotional subject matter.

The contemporary performance, done to a live rendition of Take Me Home by Us the Duo, reflected on Jordan’s most memorable year, which was 2005. That is when his biological grandparents officially adopted the young man who is now 23.

Judge Len Goodman commented that this fluid performance was “fantastic.” He awarded the pair a solid 9 out of a possible 10 points.

Bruno Tonioli deemed this contemporary dance “flawless” and gave a generous 10–the first of the season.

As for Carrie Ann Inaba? This tough DWTS arbiter remarked that the number was “exquisite” and also gave it a perfect 10, assuring that Arnold and Fisher landed at the top of the leaderboard.

Dancing with the Stars airs on Mondays at 8 p.m., ET. on ABC.
