Ever since JJ saved the suicidal Haley Chen in 2018 Days of Our Lives fans have fallen in love with the sweet do-gooder nurse with a pair of golden pipes. But some viewers want to know more about the actress who has won their (and JJ’s) heart. So here are five fast facts about Thia Megia.
Early Days
Megia was born in Hayward, California and lived there for over ten years before she and her family moved to Mountain House. Megia was cyber-schooled online through the California Virtual Academy.
Competitive Spirit
Megia always knew she wanted to be a singer and she has won a number of singing competitions in San Jose and Saratoga. When she was 13 she appeared on the musical TV series Showtime at the Apollo where she was dubbed the Kid Star of Tomorrow.
At 15, Megia became the youngest finalist to appear on American Idol. After performing Adele’s hit single, “Chasing Pavements,” Megia was told by Jennifer Lopez that she was the “total package.”
In Good Company
Although Megia didn’t win American Idol she didn’t have much time to brood over the loss. Not long after her defeat, she was invited to perform at the David Foster and Friends concert.

For A Good Cause
In 2010 Megia took part in Lisa Lavie’s collaboration video “We Are The World 25 For Haiti. The video was used to raise funds for the charity set up to help the victims of the devastating earthquake that destroyed parts of Haiti.
Early Acting Roles
Although Megia’s breakout role was Haley on Days of Our Lives it certainly wasn’t her first acting gig. She appeared in two short films (Eye of Enmity and Yellow Rose), the television series Pop Musical High and A.S.S (a Scary Sleepover) and she even lent her voice to the animated series Tails of the Blue.
